Renishaw has released details on a new machine it is developing for production manufacturing. Titled the EVO Project, it is the first additive manufacturing system designed and engineered in-house at Renishaw.

The machine, according to the company, is created for single material industrial production. It is developed with a strong emphasis on automation, monitoring technologies and reduced operator interaction. Powder handling is almost entirely hands-free, and powder recirculation, recycling and recovery are all executed within the system's atmosphere.

The system incorporates a high-power 500W laser, a high-capacity filtration system and a 19 in. HMI user interface. The company plans to release the machine in the second half of 2015. It also states that it is designed to complement the AM250 system, which is suitable for manufacturing and research applications.

In addition to developing the EVO Project, Renishaw is also improving its AM250 system. Some of these enhancements include the PlusPac upgrade, which offers new Z-axis seals and chamber lighting.
