Roland Offers Free Upgrade for JWX-30 Jewelry Model Maker

Roland DGA Corporation has introduced Version 2.0 of the company’s JewelStudio software, a 3D design program developed for jewelry designers and goldsmiths.  JewelStudio is included with all Roland JWX-30 3D milling machines, creating a solution for jewelry wax master model production.

The JWX-30 allows jewelry designers to transform their ideas into intricate wax models of jewelry.  The solution includes all hardware and software needed to design and manufacture wax models.

The JWX-30 is a 4-axis desktop mill engineered for wax master model production.  It features a 30,000 rpm spindle and 100W DC Brushless motor. It generates precision up to 0.00125 mm/step and comes with a double-edged cutting tool. Its maximum work area of 305(X) x 205(Y) x 100(Z)mm is large enough to produce rings, bracelets and charms.

Bundled JewelStudio software both digitizes sketches, allowing users to draw the design in the software with step-by-step instructions.  With the release of Version 2.0, all existing JewelStudio customers can update their software free of charge.

The new version has been upgraded with parametric editing capabilities that allow designers to change the parameters of a design, such as the shape and size of a ring, and see these changes reflected dynamically on screen. Other new features include a 3D texture function that creates original textures on the surface of jewelry items.  In addition, the program’s Relief Studio creates 3D reliefs according to preset parameters.  The Dynamic Polar Array function creates an array of stones and objects in real time for instant viewing. The software also includes an animation studio that displays finished designs in a video presentation at the proper resolution for viewing on a Web site or DVD, or for sending as an e-mail attachment.

Now through March 31, 2010, customers in the U.S. and Canada that purchase a JWX-30 will receive a $2,900 instant rebate.  The complete JWX-30 solution is list priced at $17,895 (before rebate).
