Scientific Forming Technologies Releases DEFORM v10.1

Scientific Forming Technologies Corporation (SFTC) has released version 10.1 of the DEFORM System for process simulation. The release provides features to simplify the modeling of basic or advanced mechanical joining applications, as compared to general FEM codes. The new version also includes a new 64-bit solver for simulating larger, more complex models.

The updated graphical user interface is less cluttered and more customized toward fastener-specific processes than many codes. Contact between multiple deforming bodies is set up by selecting object pairs that may contact. Remeshing is controlled by the software. Prior forming history can be accounted for through manufacturing and installation, ensuring the most accurate results.

Fastener manufacturers or OEMs can use DEFORM to model a variety of processes for joint development. Forming, installation and testing processes can be analyzed for mechanical joining applications including clinching, bolting and riveting.  Computer simulations provide information such as deformed shape, loads/torques, defects, and tool stresses.
