Sheet Metal Guy(Cincinnati, OH) is taking advance orders for SolidWorks for the Sheet Metal Guy—Course 2: Hole Patterns andNotches, the scond book in its series of five self-paced training books. According to the publisher, this seriesof books will cover the basics of part creation through complexfeatures of sheet metal design. Emphasis is on creating parts andfeatures that maintain the design intent even when changes are made tothe material thickness or bend radius.

The new book explains how to create both standard and specially shapedholes and cutouts. Methods of generating patterns for these holes,including using tables to parametrically update the patterns as thepart size changes, is included. Also detailed in this book are steps tocustomize the Design Library, ways to create folders filled with thetools used on a regular basis, and ways to create forming tools. Price: $64.95 (order early for discount).

According to the publishers, the first book, Course 1—PartCreation, was well received. It shows how to create sheet metal partsusing the basic command features provided in the Sheet Metal toolbar.
