Siber Systems, Inc. (Fairfax, VA) announced GoodSync Version 7. As the latest iteration of the backup and synchronization utility product for PCs, GoodSync Version 7 now supports Web-based transfers via FTP or WebDAV protocols, making it easy to upload and maintain copies of files at distant locations for protection.

Known for its dependability, flexibility, speed, and one-click operation, the company says the product supports file synchronization between computers and/or hard drives via USB cable, local networks, and the Web. Plus, with the addition of WebDAV and FTP standards, remote backups over the Internet will be faster than ever. Users can now synchronize and backup files or entire disks to remote servers without having to sign up for an expensive backup service provider. Website owners can now use GoodSync to upload and maintain website files.

File Transfer Protocol (FTP) and Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV) are common technologies for transferring and managing large amounts of file information over the Internet. FTP uses the Internet's TCP/IP protocols for fast data transfer, while WebDAV, an extension to the HTTP protocol, allows users to collaborate on, and even alter, files via the Web.

Siber Systems' GoodSync data backup and synchronization utility is FREE for personal use; a professional version of the product can be purchased for $19.95 (USD), with Enterprise and OEM pricing available.

GoodSync Version 7 is available for download or purchase from Siber Systems.
