MSC Software Corp. has released version 2015 of its SimManager simulation data and process management (SPDM) system for managing simulation test data and processes from the beginning of a project through to its final report generation. A Web-based solution, SimManager 2015, says MSC Software, brings process enhancements, an improved user interface, enhanced data collaboration and easier deployability. The company adds that version 2015 helps streamline automotive engineering simulation workflows with full Adams/Car Portal Data Management integration.

SimManager enables engineering data management in a central, searchable environment. It provides the intelligence to store, protect and distribute simulation files and methods generated by MSC Software, third-party or in-house applications. Content management capabilities include object lifecycle management, audit trail capture, intelligent search and retrieval, role-based access control and object-level security. Processes can be captured and re-used, and it supports automatic job queuing and submission. Miscellaneous capabilities include support for multidisciplinary analyses, results comparisons and customizable workspace-driven access to data, processes, searches and navigation.

SimManager 2015's full integration with the Adams/Car vehicle design and testing environment provides engineers a platform for storing, retrieving and managing vehicle dynamics models as well as enabling improved cooperation among design teams. Features include the ability to work on local models, the ability to both retrieve and publish models as well as the ability to share models with globally disbursed teams. The Adams/Car plug-in for Adams/View provides support for publishing and retrieving Adams/Car models from the GUI (graphical user interface), which improves ease of use and productivity, according to the company.

SimManager 2015 introduces a new Advanced File Selector feature for improved ease-of-use and a new User Groups capability for collaboration. The Advanced File Selector feature allows drag and drop file selection, new file browsers and an integrated progress bar supporting large files greater than 2GB.

User Groups collaboration has been enhanced with a new Dynamic Group capability for use in projects and notifications. Collaborative sharing of objects gives the ability to share/un-share objects outside of projects, eliminating the duplicate effort in object creation.

SimManager 2015's security features as well as overall performance have been improved, reports MSC Software. SimManager 2015 also now includes support for the newly introduced token-based MSC One licensing system. The enhancements in license handling for both MSC One and traditional licensing improves access to both SimManager and other solutions delivered by MSC Software in a cost-effective manner, according to the company.
