The German-French software manufacturer CoreTechnologie has released the latest version of the Software Developer Kit (SDK) 3D_Kernel_IO. The new tool offers CAD interfaces for reading in all important native and standard formats, the option of writing out native formats such as Catia V5 and NX as well as Solidworks and Step 242. Thanks to a new geometry kernel with optimized memory management, the software enables faster loading of all common CAD formats than the previous version.

CAD Interfaces SDK with New Formats

The 3D_Kernel_IO 2025 software fully supports 3D product and manufacturing information for the consistent use of 3D models throughout the product lifecycle management (PLM) process. The so-called PMI generated in V5/V6, NX, Creo, Solidworks as well as JT and Step 242 are provided as semantic information and can also be converted into polylines and tessellated curves.

A particular highlight of the new tool is the support of the design history and kinematics information as well as healing functions for checking and improving the data quality as part as the import process. Compared to the previous version, a more precise and faster tessellation is ensuring the creation of high-quality visualization models that can be tessellated in any resolution for different requirements.

With the help of standardized queries and C++ functions, information about the B-Rep geometry, assembly structure, history and parametric as well as PMI and attributes of the CAD models are made available in detail in a standardised data structure.

Support for Various Platforms

The 3D_Kernel_IO 2025 software is programmed in C++ and runs cross-platform on Windows, macOS and Linux as well as in the new version on ARM 64 processors. The architecture enables simple, standardized integration for all supported formats. Developers benefit from an included 3D viewer with source code examples and comprehensive Doxygen documentation. With four updates per year, new CAD formats are constantly updated, and software developers are supported via a direct and dedicated support contact.
