SolidACE, a CAD and engineering tool provider for the architectural, building and construction engineering, and plant engineering markets, announced the release of the new BuiltWorks 3.1, a structural steel design and engineering add-in application for SolidWorks CAD environment.

BuiltWorks is flexible to enable external best of breed vertical market products from AEC and Plant industries to be linked to SolidWorks establishing communication chain within and between companies involved in the design, analysis, fabrication and construction of industrial facilities, buildings and structures, said Vladimir Popov, CEO of SolidACE. BuiltWorks can read and save data in popular industrial formats" SDNF (Steel Detailing Neutral Format), and CIS/2 (CIM steel Integration Standards). This ensures seamless and integrated round-trip data exchange and information flow between SolidWorks and Industrial design systems including those for structural steel detailing, analysis and fabrication."

Among the new enhancements: a SolidWorks link to Plant Design; the ability to exchange General Arrangement models with AVEVA PDMS, Intergraph PDS and SmartPlant 3D, Bentley AutoPlant and other Plant Design Systems; import and export of SDNF format and CIS/2 Design Model; and a direct bi-directional link in STAAD.Pro format.
