Depending on end goals, color can be either the most or least important part of a print. For most prototypes, the ability to print in solid colors is more than sufficient to highlight important parts or mechanisms. For end-use, however, sometimes getting color right is nearly as important as functionality.

Regardless of your goals, the ability to integrate full spectrum color into your 3D printed design offers new possibilities for finished objects. To that end, Stratasys has partnered with Adobe to offer the Stratasys Creative Colors Software option for use with Photoshop. Now, nearly any color or color combination can be more easily reproduced as part of the design of a 3D printed object built using a Connex3 3D printer.

“Partnering with Adobe, a world leader in creative software products, aligns with Stratasys’ vision to make the color 3D printing experience as simple, powerful and rewarding as possible. The integration of Objet Connex3 with Stratasys Creative Colors Software and the resulting explosion of color possibilities is an important milestone in fulfilling this vision,” said Dan Yalon, EVP business development, strategy and vertical solutions, Stratasys.

“Furthermore, our relationship with Adobe not only continues to push the envelope of 3D printed realism, it also promotes our goal to make 3D printing more accessible, bringing enhanced color solutions to new important communities, such as Adobe’s creative designers,” he said.

Stratasys Creative Colors Software works with Objet Studio Software and Adobe Photoshop as part of the same workflow, allowing users to move objects from one design tool to the next. Along with offering new color and improved color options, such as color gradients, Photoshop also does a basic check of the design and repairs it as necessary to ensure proper printing. The new Creative Colors software feeds information to Connex3 systems (including the 260, 350, and 500) where newly colorful digital designs become printed reality.
