The WITTENSTEIN ternary actuator is billed as an all-in-one linear actuator system that integrates controller, motor, amplifier and drive into one compact mechatronic device.

For rotary motion, the basic ternary device can be used alone or paired with an alpha gearbox. For linear requirements, a ballscrew or slider can be added to the device.

Setting parameters for functions is accomplished with the included programming software. Depending on the type of operation, the designer can also write a program that contains specific positions and motion profiles. With low voltage requirements, a variety of control interfaces and no maintenance, the ternary all-in-one system is suited to new applications as well as for retrofits and upgrades for pneumatics, according to the company.
