Autodesk has launched Autodesk Fusion 360 in the Apple App Store, making it the first professional 3D CAD & CAM tool available for purchase on the platform.

Autodesk Fusion 360 Autodesk Fusion 360 is now available for purchase at the Apple App Store.

Autodesk Fusion 360 is a cloud-based tool that combines 3D industrial and mechanical design, collaboration and machining in a single platform. It allows users to create products that have both form and function prepared for fabrication, the company states.

Collaboration capabilities provide a space for built-in and automated data management and sharing for models. This ensures that all necessary information and designs are archived, versioned, managed and securely shared.

Since the program is cloud based, users can access designs at anytime, anywhere. Data can also be viewed with tablets or mobile devices through the free version of the application.

“The fundamental methods of design and manufacturing are experiencing radical disruption,” said Robert “Buzz” Kross, senior vice president at Autodesk. “We started from scratch and co-created Fusion 360 with the product design community to reimagine 3D CAD and CAM. Our global community loves the Mac, and now they have a faster path to getting started with Fusion 360 on the Mac.”

Autodesk Fusion 360 for Mac is available now in English for $39.99 per month, or $299.99 per year.
