Extensible CAD Technologies Releases Office2PDM

Extensible CAD Technologies LLC has released Office2PDM, an add-in for Microsoft Office that brings the document management functions of SolidWorks Enterprise PDM directly into Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

“Users of PDM expect to be able to manage their files from within the authoring app that created the files.  SolidWorks users have long enjoyed the ability to check their SolidWorks files into and out of the Enterprise PDM vault from directly inside of SolidWorks,” says Jeff Cope, president of Extensible CAD Technologies. “This is because Enterprise PDM has an interface that runs directly inside of SolidWorks.  What we’ve done is enable users to work with their Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files in exactly the same way.” 

Without Office2PDM, Enterprise PDM users who want to manage their Microsoft Office documents in their PDM vault must close their files and then access them in Windows explorer. Office2PDM provides access to common Enterprise PDM functions as well as access to document status information without requiring users to open up a separate interface.

Extensible CAD Technologies will be demonstrating Office2PDM in booth 726 at the upcoming SolidWorks World 2010 international user conference. The conference takes place Jan. 31 to Feb. 3, 2010 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA.
