Horizon Microtechnologies is launching its Product Shop—a streamlined platform offering horn antennas in standardized and customized versions. This launch highlights Horizon’s use of precision additive manufacturing (AM) and its coating processes, making advanced radio frequency (RF) components more accessible, the company says.

Horn antennas are a critical component for RF applications across industries including telecommunications, aerospace, satellite communications, and radar systems, according to Horizon. Horizon leverages its refined micro-AM-based technology, combined with precision coating techniques, to produce horn antennas that overcome the limitations of traditional manufacturing. The company’s technology ensures antennas that are:

  • Lightweight—Madel for weight-sensitive applications like unmanned aerial vehicles, satellites, and portable communication systems.
  • Customizable—Horizon’s approach makes tailor-made solutions almost for free.
  • Streamlined workflow—the 3D printing based manufacturing approach allows Horizon to work directly off many of the file types that RF simulation and design programs can output.
  • Short lead times mdash; Horizon is a one-stop shop, supporting design-to-functionality for customized horn antennas.

The combination of micro-AM and precision coatings allows Horizon to deliver parts with geometric complexity and design freedom. This is significant, according to Horizon, in parts of the RF components market, where advanced designs can translate directly into enhanced performance—such as higher signal integrity, reduced interference, and optimized radiation patterns.

“Using established manufacturing techniques, seemingly small modifications to an antenna could have a significant impact on manufacturabilty," says Andreas Frölich, CEO of Horizon Microtechnologies. Now, customization no longer comes at a premium—it’s effectively part of the package. Customers can achieve designs that were previously impossible, with rapid production and a quote in their hands within 48 hours of inquiry.”

The Product Shop provides a user-friendly interface, enabling customers to:

  • Explore a selection of standardized horn antennas.
  • Request fully customized designs tailored to their specific needs.
  • Receive a personalized quote within 2 working days.
