Dr. Satwant Kaur has authored Transitioning Embedded Systems to Intelligent Environments. The book is being published by Intel Press, and has a foreword by the president and COO of EMC.

In her most recent position, Dr. Kaur was a platform strategist in the Intel Architecture Group at Intel. Prior to joining Intel, she was the CTO of the Emerging Technologies Group at TIBCO Software. She was also director of Development at Symantec, and chief technology architect of Quest Software. She was a research faculty member in the Computer Science Department of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi. Satwant served on the Advisory Board at Panacea Software, and was also a consultant on the Thomson-Reuters Insight Expert Network.

The book lays out a vision of intelligent environments and how it is fueled by Intel core microarchitecture, Intel platforms, and technology advancements in areas of wireless sensor networks, 6LoWPAN, parasitic power harvesting, intelligent transportation, intelligent health, autonomous robots, and more intelligent environments of the future. It details the enabling technologies and the challenges, but also presents a roadmap of how to get there, according to Intel.
