ASCON presents KOMPAS-3D V23, a new release of its flagship CAD product. The new version offers updated 3D and 2D design tools and industry-specific applications.

"With each new release, KOMPAS-3D gains more functionality to become a high-performance engineering tool," says Igor Volokitin, KOMPAS-3D product manager. "The new version includes advanced design and reverse engineering, imported geometry, and complex shape modeling tools."

Volokitin also noted that a native Linux KOMPAS-3D is in the making.

3D Modeling Tools

This release offers new polygonal geometry tools that simplify reverse engineering. Now users can specify a direction along an object and provide numerical properties of the fitting surface created from a polygonal object. The Deviation Analysis command estimates deviations between the underlying polygonal object and a surface, body, or face. Deviations are visualized as color maps.

The new Groove and Arc Groove commands create slots in 3D sketches, fragments, or drawings. Using the Replace Components command, you can change a new source file for one or more assembly components and also match the old and new components. There are new direct modeling commands for handling 3D models imported from other CAD systems:

Mechanical Engineering Applications

3D shafts and mechanical gears, our primary mechanical engineering application, has been significantly upgraded. In a KOMPAS-Part document, you can now create and edit shaft models based on the preconfigured 2D shaft model. The 2D and 3D shaft models are stored in the same part file and are associative.

For all KOMPAS-3D V23 new features, refer to the interactive Help system. Perpetual, annual, and quarterly licenses are available.
