Kubotek Kosmos MBD Utilities 7.2 Now Available

The 7.2 service pack release of the Kubotek Kosmos MBD File Utilities software is largely focused on translator updates to support reading files from recent versions of major CAD programs. The release also adds options to the Validate product for report marking related to specific U.S.-government-owned models.

Updated Translators

Reading of native 3D CAD files across all four programs (Validate, Revision, Convert, and View) has been extended to support NX 2506 and Parasolid 38 files from Siemens Digital Industries Software. PTC Creo 12 files are also now readable with this release in all four programs. For our View and Convert programs, Fusion 2603 series read has been extended to support files from Autodesk’s August 2025 1.52 update. The View program also adds support for reading NX 2506 and Creo 12 drawings.

Supporting Suppliers to U.S. Defense Contracts

Version 7.2 of Kubotek Kosmos Validate includes options for marking reports that contain Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), a category the U.S. federal government uses to indicate that special file handling is required. The new CUI options enable insertion of appropriate notes to the cover page of model verification reports as required by federal standards.

Protocols for handling CUI are one aspect of the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) required to work on certain federal projects. The updated functionality in Validate makes it simple for manufacturers to comply with the standards relating to model verification reports. Shops should work with an expert CMMC consultant to be sure they understand the scope of any requirements.
