The CompactDAQ's integrated systems, according to the company, allow engineers to reduce overall system cost and complexity while increasing measurement accuracy. Other integrated systems include signal conditioning and I/O.

The controller can run on Windows Embedded 7 or NI Linux Real-Time, and includes removable storage, a built-in CAN/LIN port, four C Series Module Slots and a temperature testing range of -40 °C to 70 °C  (-40 °F to 158 °F).

If run with LabVIEW system design software, users can combine over 60 sensor-specific I/O modules and customize data acquisition systems to meet specific application needs.

“We designed this next-generation CompactDAQ controller based on customer feedback, making it smaller, less expensive and more rugged,” said Stefanie Breyer, director of data acquisition R&D at National Instruments. “By leveraging the latest Intel Atom 3800 processor within the controller, our customers can deploy powerful processing paired with high-accuracy measurements anywhere.”
