The National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining (NCDMM) announces its newest subsidiary, El Paso Makes. Initially established in 2023 as a wholly owned subsidiary of NCDMM, El Paso Makes is a one-stop resource for manufacturers in El Paso, West TX, and beyond, helping access quality suppliers, industry resources and research needed to meet the demands of the aerospace and defense markets. El Paso Makes plans to grow the region’s aerospace, defense, and advanced manufacturing ecosystem through education and workforce development, fostering business opportunities, and diversifying the nation’s defense industrial base.

Due to the expertise and resources available through NCDMM and other El Paso partnerships, El Paso Makes is poised to mobilize the West Texas frontier into a manufacturing ecosystem with a skilled workforce.

El Paso Makes is an economic development partnership powered by the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) Aerospace Center and the W.M. Keck Center for 3D Innovation at UTEP, City of El Paso, County of El Paso, Workforce Solutions Borderplex, Rio Grande Council of Governments, and the El Paso Chamber.

“NCDMM is a nationally recognized industry leader in executing successful applied research and development projects to improve DoD weapon and support systems,” says Randy Gilmore, vice president and chief development officer at NCDMM and president at El Paso Makes. “We will work collectively with stakeholders and industry experts to propel the El Paso region forward, foster innovations, and expand the talent stream of our nation’s aerospace and defense sector.”
