After ongoing consultation with community partners and extensive efforts to identify viable alternatives to present the event this year, SME has moved to postpone RAPID + TCT to April 2021 at McCormick Place in Chicago.

"We understand the importance RAPID + TCT plays in the business of its many stakeholders, and the outpouring of support and commitment for presenting this event in 2020 as we’ve reached out to our exhibitors and speakers has been overwhelming," SME said in a statement.

"We have continued to work to identify options for presenting the event at some point in 2020, but despite these considerable endeavors, we were forced to make a difficult choice. Given the volatile nature of the COVID-19 pandemic’s length and severity in the United States, we recognized that there were no 2020 options that would both work operationally and assure the safety of the additive manufacturing community," SME continued in its press release.

Organizers noted that such a decision was not made lightly, but its main priority will "always be the health, safety and wellness of exhibitors, speakers, attendees, media, and employees."

"We are already working to ensure that RAPID + TCT 2021 is the most comprehensive and best edition ever. Thank you for your patience, your understanding, and your commitment to RAPID + TCT and the additive manufacturing community," SME added.
