Siemens PLM Software announced the latest release of Parasolid software, its 3D geometric modeling component for computer-aided design, manufacturing and engineering analysis (CAD/CAM/CAE), as well as architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) applications. Parasolid version 25.0 includes surfacing, visualization and performance enhancements.

"Parasolid delivers high quality solutions to meet the technical challenges presented by our diverse user-base of world-class application developers," said Paul Sicking, senior vice president, Chief Technology Office, Siemens PLM Software. "This latest release of Parasolid delivers an impressive set of enhancements that enable application developers to further automate workflows in order to boost end user productivity."

The version provides end users with fine control of surface modeling. For example, when repairing a hole in geometry that is often present in imported models, it is now possible to provide additional data to act as a framework structure for the repairing surface. Also, sweep operations through multiple profiles can be clamped to smoothly meet faces adjacent to the profiles.

The solution also includes new functionality to provide fine control when manipulating curves. A single smooth continuous curve can now be created from a chain of smoothly-connected edges and one or more curves may be projected onto a surface along the surface normal or along a user supplied vector.

Enhancements have also been made to improve established algorithms in functionality such as Booleans and ray-fire to address new workflows in CAE applications.
