Andretti Global, a racing team under the TWG Motorsports umbrella, reports that longtime partner Siemens, a global technology powerhouse, served as a primary partner for the No. 28 Siemens Honda piloted by Marcus Ericsson at the Detroit Grand Prix.
As primary sponsor the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio of software is integrated into Andretti Global’s racing operations. By deploying NX X software for product engineering and Teamcenter X software for product lifecycle management (PLM), Andretti Global gains access to design, simulation and PLM tools—enabled through the cloud for maximum agility and collaboration.
This transformation is enabled through Siemens’ integration of Microsoft Azure, which provides the secure, scalable infrastructure needed to support real-time design iterations and global team collaboration. Specifically, the integration of Azure OpenAI and Microsoft 365 Copilot enhances Siemens’ software with AI-powered capabilities, enabling engineers to explore design alternatives, automate tasks, and accelerate decision-making.
Andretti Global’s engineering teams now operate with flexibility. Whether at headquarters or on track, they can instantly access and modify designs, simulate performance, and implement changes in real time—capabilities that are critical during race weekends when milliseconds matter.
The AI-enhanced design environment allows Andretti Global engineers to interact with software using natural language, streamlining workflows and reducing the time from concept to implementation.
Siemens’ commitment to innovation and digitalization is exemplified in its work with Andretti Global. The integration of Siemens’ industrial software expertise with Microsoft Azure technologies delivers a platform for continuous improvement. This collaboration also supports sustainable development goals by reducing the need for physical prototypes and enabling more efficient resource use through advanced simulation and testing. Siemens is the team’s longest standing partner, serving as its official software technology partner since 1997.
“Siemens and Microsoft are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in motorsport engineering—driven by data, powered by the cloud and fueled by innovation," says Tony Hemmelgarn, president and CEO, Siemens Digital Industries Software. "Our partnership with Andretti Global exemplifies how Siemens is driving the future of engineering, where speed precision and innovation converge. Adding cloud computing capabilities to our Siemens Xcelerator portfolio is enabling teams like Andretti to make smarter decisions faster and stay ahead in one of the world's most demanding environments.”
