Software Cradle Releases New Unstructured Grid CFD Software

Also updates SC/Tetra CFD product.

Software Cradle announced the release of scSTREAM and HEAT Designer Version 10 structured grid CFD software. scSTREAM is the counterpart of Cradle's flagship unstructured grid, general-purpose SC/Tetra CFD software. HEAT Designer is a specialized application of scSTREAM for electronics cooling.
 
The solution provides direct import of the majority of major native CAD formats into the SC/Tetra V10 integrated preprocessor, including CATIA, Pro/Engineer, SolidWorks, NX, SolidEdge, and Inventor.  IGES, VDAS and ACIS formats are seamlessly imported.

A new preprocessing option for scSTREAM enhances BIM (building information model) by directly importing architectural data from Graphisoft ArchiCAD architectural design software into scSTREAM without going through an intermediate file. This includes automatic simplification of the data to adapt it for CFD, cleaning functions, direct transfer of architectural information, and material and solar properties.  scSTREAM also provides these capabilities for Revit.
 
The expanded parts library includes Peltier Devices, Heat Pipes, and new Air Conditioning (A/C) configurations.

The company has also updated its SC/Tetra product to version 10. The new release allows direct import of most native CAD formats in the product's integrated preprocessor, and can accommodate large models containing up to 1 billion elements.

A new density based solver for high Mach Number compressible flows uses a fully coupled solver that solves the mass, momentum, and energy  equations simultaneously. A new VOF (Volume of Fluid) model used for free surfaces is 10-times faster than the previous model.

The SST-SAS (Shear Stress Transport - Scale Adaptive Simulation) turbulence model can be used for highly unsteady regions (e.g., separation zones) and where large scale turbulence structures can be resolved without the time and grid scale resolution issues inherent with other methods, the company says.

The optional integrated optimization program using the Multi-Objective Genetic Algorithm (MOGA) enables optimization of multiple objectives.
