SolidCAM has added the iMachining module to its software. The new technology first debuted at the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS), which ran from September 8 to 13.

The iMachining module of SolidCAM provides savings and increased efficiency in CNC (computer-numerically controlled) milling operations, the company states. iMachining is said to save 70% in CNC machining time and can extend cutting tool life. The platform provides optimal feeds and speeds, gathering information from the toolpath, stock and tool material as well as the machine specifications.

During IMTS, the company demonstrated iMachining's abilities with the HURCO VMX24HSi high-speed mill and a Defiance VTX tabletop mill. Conference attendees were able to see how the software helped each machine cut quickly manufacture steel-cut parts.

"The true value of CAM software is how it drives a CNC Machine to achieve incredible levels of cutting speed, while dramatically slashing tool wear, so the best way to show the bottom line benefits of SolidCAM iMachining is by demonstrating it in live cutting on CNC machines," said Emil Somekh, founder and CEO of SolidCAM.
