SPECapc Releases PTC Creo 3.0 Benchmark

The study examined a variety of workflows that implement the design software.

SPEC‘s Application Performance Characterization (SPECapc) group has released a new benchmark study for systems running PTC Creo 3.0. The study includes eight workflows that use the application in a variety of ways. It also included scores for specific graphics display modules in Creo, including shading with reflections, wireframe, hidden-line and no-hidden-line.

Updates implemented in the benchmark include:

  • Transparency using order independent transparency, which improves rendering clarity, according to the company.
  • Screen space ambient occlusion (SSAO), that mimics real-life blocking of life for realistic rendering.
  • Advanced materials, bump mapping and image background support.
“PTC thanks SPECapc for delivering this new standard benchmark for PTC Creo 3.0,” said Brian Thompson, senior vice president, PTC Creo product management. “Our worldwide customer base and our hardware partners can now measure and compare the performance of PTC Creo 3.0 on the latest generation of CAD workstations.”

A copy of the benchmark may be downloaded here.
