The first PBS Works User Group Conference will be held October 2-3, 2012, at the Tech Museum in San Jose, Calif. High-performance computing (HPC) experts from industries including government, life science and manufacturing will speak at the event, organized by the PBS Works division of Altair.

The event will feature presentations and panel discussions by Altair technical experts, hands-on workshops and training sessions, and networking opportunities.
 
Scheduled speakers include, Jim Glidewell, senior HPC analyst, Boeing; Bill Mannel, VP of product marketing, SGI; Randall Martin, HPC infrastructure manager, Clemson University; Jon Shelley, HPC" software consultant lead, Idaho National Laboratory; Kathy Smith, executive agent, Army Research Laboratory DoD Supercomputing Resource Center; and Robert Stober, senior solutions architect, Bright Computing.

According to Altair, the event will focus on best practices, tips and techniques for using PBS Works' HPC solutions, as well as trends in cloud computing and in reporting and analysis, along with presentations from Altair hardware partners. Hands-on workshops will offer tips and tricks with PBS plug-ins and application definitions.
