Sensor BoardEngineers responsible for systems integration and automation and control systems engineering can respond to a survey aimed at clarifying which protocols are essential for future hybrid wireless sensor networks. The survey, being carried out by Spanish wireless sensor device manufacturer Libelium, asks which industrial, automotive, lighting and home automation protocols are currently being used, and which ones are most preferred for future sensor network deployment.

Libelium, which produces customizable sensor boards that collect and share data across a wireless platform, says it will use the findings to ensure its forthcoming hardware module enhances control systems engineering tasks.

“Our survey makes sure that systems integrators will be able to capture and make full use of the extensive data capacity available on our sensor boards by enabling the creation of hybrid wireless sensor networks combining existing industrial protocols and Zigbee/802.15.4,” says Libelium CEO, Alicia Asin Perez.

The forthcoming hardware module’s functionality will make it possible to extract wireless data from existing wired installations.
