The Additive Manufacturing Student Challenge Discovery Pitch provides a forum for undergraduate and graduate students to present 5-minute pitches on their innovative research, case studies and or applications in additive manufacturing. Please note the abstract submission deadline is March 9, 2020.
Abstracts are welcome from undergraduate and graduate students only. Winners are recognized at SME’s RAPID + TCT Awards luncheon event. Currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students will need to provide their advisor’s contact information.
Abstracts should address research, case studies and or applications in any of the following areas:
Students must provide an “elevator pitch” to the judges and audience. Presentations will be judged on a number of factors, including:
Presenters need to present a 5-minute summary of their work to interested attendees and judges. Teams may use visual aids—and present up to one PowerPoint slide. Teams will be limited to 5 minutes for their formal presentations. The judges and audience may ask each team one to two questions. Presentations will need to be submitted 1 week prior to the Challenge date (to be eligible to compete in the Oral Presentation Challenge).
Oral pitches will be judged on April 22 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. There will be two first-place awards (undergraduate and graduate) and two second-place awards (undergraduate and graduate). Cash prizes and awards, listed as follows (subject to the quality of the entries), will be presented at the RAPID + TCT Awards Ceremony luncheon to be held on Thursday, April 23, 2020.
