Siemens PLM Software has released Teamcenter Express 9.1, its preconfigured environment of Teamcenter product lifecycle management (PLM) system. Teamcenter Express Version 9.1, says Siemens, introduces several enhancements that help engineers improve productivity when searching for data and completing everyday tasks. Additionally, Teamcenter Express Version 9.1, a configuration of the latest release of the company's Teamcenter PLM system, is said to offer improvements to its multi-CAD capabilities.

For data searching and retrieval, Teamcenter Express Version 9.1 offers enhancements to the Local Find search command that runs in the Explorer panel. It now automatically filters displayed data as the data is typed in. This, says Siemens, provides instant and dynamic feedback on data that matches a search. Also, a new Simple Search tab in the data panel reportedly simplifies the creation and execution of both basic and complex searches. Siemens adds that some searches involving Boolean logic that previously could only be defined by a system administrator can now be configured directly by users.

Teamcenter Express 9.1 users can take advantage of Teamcenter integrations with Solid Edge, NX, AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, CATIA V5, Creo, and SolidWorks, according to Siemens. Enhancements for Solid Edge users include closer integration in areas such as automated Item and Revision number assignment, the use of display names, as well as performance improvements for bulk loading and product structure management. For NX users, Check Mate validation results can now be stored in Teamcenter Express. Validation results can queried and viewed without re-opening NX parts and assemblies, and they can be linked to Teamcenter Express workflows.

Teamcenter Express Version 9.1 sees the introduction of a new Teamcenter Express Occasional Author license, which is described as a lower-cost license for users needing infrequent author access to Teamcenter Express. In addition, a new license monitoring tool enables administrators to more easily track and optimize license usage, says Siemens.

Teamcenter Express Version 9.1 also adds certification for Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 as well as full 64-bit Windows Server and client support. Other enhancements reported include improvements to the Teamcenter Express installation wizard and the Change Request and Change Notice forms are now standard Teamcenter forms.

In a related announcement, Siemens also announced Teamcenter Mobility 2.0, a mobile device app for accessing product knowledge managed by Teamcenter Express. Features include the ability to capture and contribute additional knowledge, browse product structures, and initiate workflow processes.
