Tektronix announced a fully automated compliance test and debug solution for the recently released HDMI 2.0 specification. The solution covers the HDMI 2.0 transmitter tests and Direct Synthesis based receiver tests, and cable test requirements.
The successor to the HDMI 1.4a/b standard, HDMI 2.0 is designed to meet the bandwidth requirements of forthcoming Ultra HD or 4K televisions while using existing cabling for backward compatibility. It significantly increases bandwidth to 18Gbps and adds such features as 32 audio channels and simultaneous delivery of video and audio streams to multiple users.

Instead of requiring engineers to set-up multiple pieces of equipment, the Tektronix solution uses an AWG70000 arbitrary waveform generator to produce required test signals and specified impairments automatically. This potentially reduces test times from days to few hours, the company says.
The full solution includes MSO/DPO/70000 series real-time oscilloscope, HDMI compliance testing software, AWG70000 series arbitrary waveform generators, DSA8300 sampling oscilloscope for time domain reflectometry (TDR), IConnect software for serial data network analysis, and test fixtures.
