Waveform Creator Aids Electronics Design

Agilent software supports analog and digital modulation formats.

Agilent Technologies introduced the M9099 Waveform Creator, a modular software application that supports analog and digital modulation formats for the Agilent M9381A PXIe Vector Signal Generator.

M9099 was developed to support customers who need to create and manage the assembly of custom waveforms for developing and testing defense electronics, military radios, and next-generation wireless communication devices. The company's SystemVue software and 89600 VSA software work together in the waveform creator environment.

"Agilent Waveform Creator provides a superior framework for creating custom baseband and modulated RF waveforms while allowing our customers to preserve their investment through a simple drag-and-drop interface that supports importing waveforms from other tools, such as Agilent's SystemVue," said Mario Narduzzi, modular solutions marketing manager for Agilent. "It pays for itself by saving time and effort to create and manage complex waveform stimulus used in R&D, design validation, and manufacturing test."

Waveform Creator can create individual segments using available waveform plug-ins or user-created plug-ins. Assembling a signal is a matter of dragging and dropping waveform segments into tracks and modifying the segment attributes with user-definable parameters, the company says. Noise, IQ impairments and precorrections can be customized for the aggregated waveform as needed. Finally, the signal is downloaded to the M9381A PXI VSG or a waveform file. During each step the solution automatically recalculates the final waveform and displays the result prior to download.
