CD-adapco, a provider of CFD (computational fluid dynamics) software, has released SPEED v10.06, the latest version of its electric machine design solution. This iteration, the company states, offers more tools for intelligent and automated electric machine design.

Version 10.06 has tighter integration with HEEDS MDO, enhanced design exploration capabilities and a number of refinements and bug fixes. These include:

  • New windage, friction and stray loss calculations.
  • A more user-friendly node distribution dialog in the GDF editor. This enables new node creation on distribution based on actual geometry.
"This release marks a first step towards fully automated multidisciplinary design exploration for electric machines," said Markus Anders, Electric Machine Sector Manager, CD-adapco. "By providing a closer link between SPEED and HEEDS MDO, we enable our customers to take full advantage of both the efficient design space exploration strategies available in HEEDS MDO and the cutting-edge electric machine analysis technologies they are already using in SPEED."
