Dimension 3D Printing Grants $400,000+ to U.S. Schools

The Dimension 3D Printing Group, a business unit of Stratasys, Inc. (Minneapolis, MN), announced a gift of more than $400,000 of $10,000 each to more than 40 schools across the nation to underwrite the purchase of 3D printing systems for the 2008-2009 school year.

Dimension 3D Printer Grants represent a collaborative effort with Project Lead the Way (PLTW), a nonprofit organization that supports middle and high school students across the U.S. in the area of pre-engineering courses and technologies.

The partnership with PLTW, now in its third year, enables Dimension to participate in helping students build functional 3D models and explore concepts in durable ABS plastic with Dimension 3D printers.

Schools had to meet the following criteria: The school's PLTW program excelled and the addition of 3D printing technology would convey great benefit to its curriculum; the school could not afford the 3D printing system without the grant; and the school demonstrated it had the funds (including the grant) to purchase the Dimension 3D printing system by the end of August 2008.
