EOS announces a Space Act Agreement with NASA and the EOS Additive Minds Academy to offer the Metal AM Master Class, a hands-on training program. The course will be proctored in collaboration with Dr. Paul Gradl, principal engineer, NASA, and Dr. Omar Mireles, Additive Manufacture R&D engineer, Zia AM.

Beginning in November 2025, the classroom and hands-on training program will take place at the EOS technical center in Pflugerville, TX, covering metal industrial 3D printing processes and post-processing techniques for part fabrication and infusion into applications. This course will serve as a technology-agnostic review of metal AM strategies, such as laser powder bed fusion and directed energy disposition.

“This partnership embodies the power of public-private collaboration accelerating the adoption and understanding of additive manufacturing,” says Fabian Alefeld, EOS global director of business development and the Additive Minds Academy. “Through our agreement with NASA, we are delivering unparalleled access to the expertise and technologies that are shaping the future of aerospace and advanced manufacturing.”

The course includes:

✓ Overview of solid-state AM processes and their process chains
✓ Hands-on deep dives into the LPBF process chain, design, post-processing, and quality assurance
✓ Hands-on experience with EOS M 290, EOS M 300-4, and EOS M 400-4 systems
✓ EOS Additive Minds Certificate of Completion awarded to participants

Space Act Agreements are legal agreements authorized by the National Aeronautics and Space Act of 1958, allowing NASA to collaborate with partners, including government agencies, private companies, and educational institutions to support its mission. These agreements provide NASA with flexibility to enter contracts and cooperative arrangements for its goals, including international space cooperation.

Course dates and details:
• Date: November 4-6, 2025
• Location: EOS Pflugerville facility
• Participants: Limited to 20 attendees per session
• Cost: $3,400 per participant
