Fictiv debuts its Automated Injection Molding DFM.

The artificial intelligence-powered platform part analysis during configuration provides automated real-time feedback on part design. This will highlight the areas of your design that need to be addressed for molding. Fictiv also provides expert-generated pre-sales DFM along with a quote.

Information Provided During DFM

Providing automated DFM for your injection molded parts during quoting will give access to critical information needed for designs. Expect 3D DFM for the following:

Draft Review

Fictiv's system will determine the most likely direction of pull for your part design and provide a color-based review of surfaces with draft.  Fictiv will then make a recommendation on the necessary draft for the surfaces to facilitate the release the part from the mold.

Thickness Review

The wall thicknesses of your design will be reviewed and shown with a heat map for thick areas that might be susceptible to sink or add stress that causes warping.

Undercut Analysis

Based on the AI-reviewed model, Fictiv will provide a graphical review of areas that are not straight pull and that form undercuts. These areas may require secondary motions in the tooling.

Parting Line

An approximate view of the expected parting line will be provided to show where the cavity and core will be separated.
