Geometric has launched its automated design for manufacturability solution, DFMPro for NX software, Siemens PLM Softwares solution for integrated computer-aided design manufacturing and engineering (CAD/CAM/CAE).

DFMPro comes with global best practices in the area of manufacturability and assembly, along with a framework to add an organizations in-house best practices. According to the company, this allows design engineers to save time on design reviews and rework.

"Unexpected rework of manufacturability problems is one of the biggest challenges to improving the time-to-market of any product. With the DFMPro tool introducing automated manufacturability checks, our NX users will have a powerful new tool to help ensure they get their designs right the first time. The powerful manufacturability analysis capability provided by DFMPro leverages, complements and augments the already powerful Check-Mate framework inside NX," said Jim Rusk, senior vice president, product engineering software, Siemens PLM Software.

DFMPro provides numerous built-in checks for manufacturing processes like machining, sheet metal, casting, molding and assembly. The standard checks in DFMPro are derived from various handbooks, design guidelines and global best design practices.
