VISTAGY, Inc. (Waltham, MA) announced that Howaldtswerke-Deutsch Werft GmbH (HDW; Hamburg, Germany), a company of the ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems, purchased FiberSIM software to design and manufacture parts for submarines made of advanced composite materials. FiberSIM software reduces errors and compresses the product development cycle at HDW by automating the composites design-to-manufacture process.

By moving from a manual to an automated solution with FiberSIM, HDW will be able to develop an initial design more quickly and understand the impact of design changes earlier in the process. With the FiberSIM Laser Projection software, HDM engineers can reduce errors and shorten the layup time for composite parts by displaying ply outlines directly on the layup tool.

HDW chose FiberSIM because it wanted to improve the link between engineering tools, enhance the flexibility for creating documentation, and streamline and improve the overall quality of the design-to-manufacture process.
