HP (Palo Alto, CA) added the new “Shanghai” 45nm Quad-Core AMD Opteron processor to its family of HP workstations. The HP xw9400 workstation taps into the power of the new AMD Opteron processor to deliver both “extreme performance and low power consumption,” says the company.

Suited for high-end workstation applications, such as engineering, 3D digital content creation, oil and gas, and video editing, the HP xw9400 with the new AMD Opteron processor starts at $2,303.

The HP xw9400 is registered as an Electronic Products Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT) Gold product, this is highest rating available and shows HP’s environmental commitment. All HP workstations are more than 90 percent recyclable by weight and incorporate a tool-less chassis design for quick and easy upgrades by hand. Each workstation includes an 80 PLUS power supply, which is more efficient than a standard PS, reducing both overall energy usage and the amount of waste heat released into the environment.
