WSI (Andover, MA), a provider of weather computing solutions, is powering the shift to HDTV for producing weathercasts using the HP xw8600 Workstation from HP (Palo Alto, CA) to deliver its TruVu weather systems. When WSI rolled out TruVu Max, its 3D real-time weather production system, it found the HP xw8600 could meet the increased requirement for more computer power.

TruVu Max delivers real-time rendering technology that simplifies the difficult aspects of producing a compelling weathercast. Designed with, by, and for on-air weather reporting, TruVu Max offers content options for telling disruptive weather stories.

TruVu Max is said to be the only live rendering weather technology that can create visualizations within a 3D environment for both earth- and studio-based scenes.
