IDAJ will become a majority shareholder of ICON. Both companies provide computation fluid dynamics (CFD) services.

The news follows the earlier announcement that IDAJ would become a distributor of ICON products and services. Both companies have been successfully trading independently for more than twenty years and will now combine their resources in software and methods development, engineering services and support provision on a formal basis.

The two companies will continue to trade under their separate identities.

IDAJ will sell, support and jointly develop ICON's products in the territories of Japan, China (including Hong Kong), South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines.

Simon Weston, managing director at ICON, while speaking at the inaugural meeting of the two companies, said that he welcomes the investment by IDAJ, and that the companies are looking forward to "combining resources, strengths and experiences to provide current and future customers with the best CFD technologies and processes available."
