Materialise Adds Six Machines for FDM and SL

Four new FDM machines and two new patented Mammoth SL machines round out the offerings at Materialise (Leuven, Belgium).

Materialise made these additions to its facility due to increased demand for components made of real engineering plastics. The company says production of FDM parts has risen 70 percent from 2006 to 2008.

The Mammoth SL machines, for example, can produce single-piece large components more than two meters in size, such as truck bumpers and dashboards. Also included in the Mammoth machines are improved optical systems that allow the machines to provide excellent surface quality with layer thicknesses built at 0.1 mm. Materials used in the machines include Protogen white and Poly1500 resins.

Materialise has also added two new Stratasys FDM Maxum machines and two new Stratasys FDM 400MC machines to their local facility. The company reports that its in-house FDM capacity is “the largest in Europe,” with a total of 18 machines.
