Materialise announced the official launch of a new heat-resistant material for 3D printing, Ultem 9085 Black. With its advanced long-term heat and flame resistance, the company says the new material can be used in durable Fusion Deposition Modeling applications in industries such as automotive and aerospace manufacturing where parts need to withstand prolonged heat exposure.
Available in tan and black, the material is UL 94-V0 certified and featuers a glass transition temperature of 186 degrees Celsius. It has a high LOI (limiting oxygen index), making it difficult to ignite, limited smoke production, is made from low-toxicity combustion products, and has a flexural strength of 115 mPa.
