Ansys Gateway powered by AWS allows developers, designers, and engineers to shift their Ansys simulation and computer-aided design/engineering (CAD/CAE) projects to the cloud. It offers convenient access to cloud resources through a web browser from any device. Users can easily create, customize, and run Ansys applications, as well as third-party applications in a cloud-enabled workflow.

Run More Simulations Faster

By leveraging Ansys simulation solvers on the cloud, engineers can use their AWS subscription to do more simulations, which ultimately provides better results for their end products. In one of the benchmarks that Ansys conducted with Ansys LS-DYNA on an intensive model (10-million elements, using an Amazon EC2 Hpc6a instance) it only cost $38.89 for one node, $36.92 for two nodes, and the pre- and post-processing was only $4.08. It was a very economical way to solve a problem that big. The benchmark was based on a U.S. East server configuration and was solved in 3 hours and 57 minutes for one node, and 2 hours and 6 minutes for two nodes.

Ansys and AWS Helps You Reduce Infrastructure Costs

Ansys’ partnership with AWS (Amazon Web Services) provides customers with a “pay-as-you-go” model for the hardware and capabilities. For instance, Amazon EC2 Reserved Instances and Capacity Reservation provides additional confidence that you can launch the number of instances you have reserved when you need them.

Your Engineering Workspace in Cloud with Budget and Use Visibility

Ansys Gateway powered by AWS also provides insights and features to help manage your team of users. It’s easy to set up workspaces, add or remove team members, and assign budget to each project. Once you hit the limit, you can decide to extend or stop. You have access to a reporting dashboard that gives you full control of the costs and project tracking. This management view allows IT managers, engineering managers, and simulation engineers to collaborate on a single platform with the appropriate level of control. This mean that permissions can be customized for different job functions.

Ansys Gateway powered by AWS has been designed to optimize visibility and budget management for each project space, but also provides idle timers to start and stop virtual machines and prevent any unwanted consumption. Managers or IT administrators can set up workspaces, add or remove people, and give access as shown in Figure 4.
