Metris Launches Focus Scan 5.2 Software
Focus Scan automatically creates scan paths based on the CAD data

Metris (Leuven, Belgium)  launched Focus Scan 5.2 software, which relies on automatic scan path programming and virtual point cloud simulation so that users can quickly prepare – off-line or at the CMM – the complete acquisition, analysis and reporting workflow. This process speeds up the preparation and execution of CMM laser scanning inspection jobs.

The new feature of automatic scan path programming in Focus Scan reduces measurement preparation time. In additoin, scan path visualization makes it possible for  metrology engineers to validate scan programming before going live. A new point spray feature simulates a point cloud as if the part has been measured on the CMM, resulting in an accurate new way to validate scan macros.
