National RP Support Will License Metalise it ... Technology

AT 3D-SQUARED and National RP Support have entered into a technology transfer agreement whereby NRPS will license the Metalise it… technology from AT 3D-SQUARED and offer the technology as a service from the company’s HQ facility in Pella, Iowa, with the brand Metalise it … America.

As part of the agreement, AT 3D-SQUARED will provide necessary information about the hardware and process treatments, and support NRPS during the set up of the new plating unit.

Developed by AT 3D-SQUARED, the Metalise it … process is a coating procedure originally developed specifically for plastic rapid prototype (RP) models. The process can also be applied to most plastic parts that require a metal finish.

When the composite metal material is applied to the plastic part, it also adds a structural coating in addition to providing a cosmetic surface treatment. The Metalise it … process can add improvements to mechanical properties such as strength, creep characteristics, and aging reliability to specific parts. The process is also said to offer resistance to moisture, temperature, humidity, and corrosion to RP models, which opens them up to more potential uses.
