3D Systems Corporation (Rock Hill, SC) introduced Accura ClearVue Plastic, a stereolithography material designed to produce virtually colorless parts for a wide gamut of applications, range from automotive headlamp lenses, to optical products to hydraulic and pneumatic functional models. The plastic is characterized by transparency, durability and enhanced yields and manufacturability. Designers and engineers will be able to visualize internal structures and simulate lenses and other optical components with the new plastic. Another notable feature of Accura ClearVue Plastic is its flexibility and durability with a modulus range that bridges ABS and polypropylene, two of the most widely used thermoplastics. This capability will be very useful for those users who want to produce parts to test snap-fit assemblies.

Reduced viscosity of Accura ClearVue Plastic provides easier drainage and clean up that results in less waste and lower operating costs. Recoating is also improved with this feature.

Consulting on the development of this product were automotive and consumer goods manufacturers, as well as 3D Systems’ Preferred Part Service Providers (PSPs).

Accura ClearVue Plastic is expected to be commercially available by the end of 2008. Prior to general availability, prototypes made from Accura ClearVue Plastic can be purchased through the company’s Pro Parts Marketplace.
