3D Systems Corporation (Rock Hill, SC) announced the availability of new DuraForm PP 100 Plastic, a new sintering material that is a polypropylene-based rapid manufacturing material with the toughness and durability of molded polypropylene, according to the company.

The new material is suitable for enabling fast, economical manufacturing of production-quality prototypes and batches of end-use parts. 3D Systems developed DuraForm PP 100 Plastic jointly with TRIAL Corporation of Kanagawa, Japan. DuraForm PP 100 Plastic Polypropylene is used for applications that require excellent chemical resistance and ruggedness, as well as for parts that require living hinges, the company says. It is used in packaging, medical, and automotive industries.

3D Systems plans to offer this material through its online Pro Parts Marketplace and its network of Preferred Service Providers (PSPs). The company will display parts made from DuraForm PP 100 Plastic and discuss its capabilities in more detail at its World Conference from October 20-23, 2008, in Charlotte, NC/Rock Hill, SC.
