Opening the doors of its new facility in Newbury, UK, First Surface Ltd. is ready to offer the Micro Machining Process (MMP) to industry in the UK. A proprietary finishing method for achieving precision surfaces, the Micro Machining Process has, until now, only been available in Europe from the Swiss company BEST in CLASS. Beyond the process itself, First Surface offers end-to-end surface treatment services, which includes consultation together with surface measurement and surface analysis capabilities.

The Micro Machining Process makes highly selective surface finishes possible. According to the company, it can be applied to parts to obtain surface finishes that meet exacting technical, mechanical, and aesthetic specifications—specifications that would be difficult, if not impossible, to meet using traditional manual, mechanical, chemical, or electrolytic processes. The process can be applied with considerable part-to-part consistency and metal components can be treated selectively without adverse changes to their dimensional accuracy and overall tolerance.
