NextComputing (Nashua, NH) announced its latest addition to its NextDimension family of "flextop" portable workstations, the NextDimension XGE. Aimed at professional users running high-end 3D design and visualization applications, this compact computer squeezes desktop workstation performance into a briefcase-sized package with an integrated 17-in. hi-res display.

The XGE system's portable design opens up new possibilities for interaction among key contributors in the design process, enabling disparate team members to collaborate.

With the ability to quickly iterate and fine-tune digital prototypes and validate designs before they are implemented, the XGE system lets users design and test concepts faster than before. Up to 24GB of memory enables users to work with large assemblies, designs, and animations.

Based on NextComputing's open-standards and modular "flextop" architecture the XGE can be upgraded easily. Unlike a notebook, the high-performance technology inside NextDimension XGE lets you expand the system as your demands grow and keep pace with the latest technology advancements. Plus, NextDimension XGE uses less power than a standard workstation.

NextDimension XGE enables professional user communities like Product Design, Mechanical CAD, Architecture & Civil Engineering, CAE / CFD, and Digital Content Creation to change how they work, says the company.
