Formula 1 World Champion and sustainability entrepreneur Nico Rosberg is giving away his 2018 Energica EGO electric supersport motorcycle to raise money for charities helping people in need due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The fundraising consists of an online raffle that was launched recently on the fundraising platform Vip Prize and runs until August 12, 2020.

“As Energica’s financial incubators and technological partners," says Engineer Franco Cevolini, CTO and CEO at CRP Meccanica and CRP Technology, "we have been supporting the development of all the Energica models from the very beginning, especially the road-going EGO which shares common ground with the Nico’s custom designed 2018 Energica EGO electric sportbike.”

“CRP Technology’s innovative, avant-garde solutions in the field of Additive Manufacturing technology and CRP Meccanica’s expertise in the field of High Precision CNC Machining process have made Energica a unique model throughout the world," Engineer Franco Cevolini adds. "CRP’s know-how is present on Nico’s Ego as many parts of his custom electric sportbike were manufactured in Modena by CRP Technology and CRP Meccanica.”

CRP Meccanica manufactured some parts for the area of the rear suspension, swingarm included, and components for the static and rotating part of the motor housing (e.g., crankshaft, gear train, pinion shaft).

Some of the parts manufactured by CRP Technology using laser sintering process and Windform composite materials are: chain sliders, front sprocket covers, bracket for ABS support, motor terminals cover, water pump supports, front and back headlights covers, external supports for turn signal.

The 2018 Energica Ego is a fully electric high performance motorcycle with 107 kW (145 hp) and 200 Nm torque delivered by a Permanent Magnet AC power unit with a battery capacity of 13.4 kWh. It has a top speed of 150 mph (240 kph) and an acceleration of 0-100 kph in less than 3 seconds.

Custom designed specifically for Nico Rosberg, the 2018 Energica Ego includes several features, such as DC Fast charging, a matte black livery, just like Nico’s F1 helmet, aluminum forged wheels, carbon fiber custom fairings, a tech seat with red seams, OHLINS suspensions at front and back and Nico’s logo on the side.

Anyone entering the raffle has a chance to win Nico’s custom designed Energica Ego electric sportbike, which will be handed over by Nico Rosberg personally during a meet & greet in his hometown, Monaco. Travel and accommodation for the winner and a companion are included in the price package, as well as the shipping cost for the motorcycle. Everyone registering for a donation will have the chance to win. The more money donated, the more raffle tickets will be provided, thus, the higher the chances are to win.

The money raised through the raffle will be donated to two charities significant to Rosberg: The German charity foundation “Stiftung RTL - Wir helfen Kindern e.V.” (for their partnering project “Nestwärme e.V.”) and the Italian Red Cross for the project “The Time of Kindness.”
