From Laser Design Inc. (Minneapolis, MN) comes the Rapidform liveScan plug-in, now available for Laser Design's line of Faro portable 3D laser scanners.

Customers who already own portable Laser Design scanner with Rapidform software will be able to use the plug-in to scan directly into the Rapidform software package, providing enhanced graphical feedback of the scanning process as data is being collected.

During the process of gathering scan data from the Faro arm while using the Rapidform plug-in, the user can actually see the point cloud being captured from the part in real-time during the scanning process. While the arm is moved around the part, the screen updates to the user's viewing angle. The user uses this feedback to adjust the scanning speed and approach and it displays areas where the user needs to go back and gather more data.
